Our Hub

Welcome to the website of Odyssey Teaching School Hub

In late January 2021, the Department for Education (DfE) announced the 87 new national Teaching School Hubs, in preparation for full Teaching School Hub roll-out from September 2021.

Part of a wider review of System Leadership, Teaching School Hubs mark a new relationship between schools and the DfE, when working in the areas of teacher recruitment, retention and development. Building on the previous Teaching School Alliance programme and structure, Teaching School Hubs work in larger designated areas composed of Local Authority Districts, designed to ensure a broader reach and impact.

Led by Pate's Grammar School, although very much working in partnership and collaboration, the new DfE Odyssey Teaching School Hub is proud to bring together under one umbrella the expertise of many schools, alliances and educational organisations across the districts of The Forest of Dean, Gloucester and Tewkesbury, to collectively serve the needs of 140 schools, including primary, secondary, special and alternative provision, covering the full Early Years to KS5 age range.

Specifically, from September 2021, Odyssey Teaching School Hub will have key responsibilities in the region for:

  • Initial Teacher Training (ITT)
  • ECF
  • Appropriate Body Services
  • National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)
  • CPD

As a Hub, we are committed to joining with other Hubs to create a consistent approach across the South West and we are therefore delighted to be also working closely with the Balcarras Teaching School Hub, who have been designated as the lead for the Cheltenham, Cotswolds and Stroud.

As the Hub develops, we will continue to add to this website with further information. Please do however take some time to explore all that we are able to offer, and should you have any questions or want to know more, contact us at admin@odysseytsh.org or 01242 538297.

Our aim is for one coherent and unified model for Gloucestershire, and that each Hub will serve as a 'one stop shop' for both teachers and schools in the region to collaborate, access CPD and support.

Please do also sign up to receive our newsletter – which is issued monthly, summarising all the opportunities available to teachers and schools. Please contact Melanie Riley at admin@odysseytsh.org to join our mailing list.
