Funding your
teacher training

There are various ways to fund your teacher training in Gloucestershire.

Tuition Fees

Trainees have to pay tuition fees to cover the cost of the course. Home and EU trainees will be eligible for a tuition fee loan from Student Finance England to cover the cost of these fees.

The fees for starting the programme in September 2026 are £9,790.

Salaried teacher training positions

Sometimes trainees can be employed directly by a school as an unqualified teacher and train at the same time. This route would be most suited to people who have prior experience working in schools or significant relevant work experience.

These positions do not arise frequently and so we would always recommend planning to self fund the training.

Any salaried training positions will be opened on DfE Apply.
